James (Jay) D. Gordon, III is a partner at Frohlich, Gordon & Beason, P.A., bringing more than 16 years of legal experience to the firm. Since graduating with honors from the Florida State University College of Law in 2002, Jay has devoted his career to representing injured victims throughout Southwest Florida. His practice focuses on personal injury and wrongful death matters involving automobile negligence, premises liability, and general negligence. His dedication, skill, and strong record of results have earned him recognition as Legal Elite by Florida Trend magazine, placement on the Florida Super Lawyers Rising Stars list, and membership in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
Jay’s passion for justice is demonstrated through years of service to the Florida Bar. He served as a member and chairperson of the Florida Bar Grievance Committee in Charlotte County, where he helped review and investigate citizen complaints against local attorneys. He was also chosen as a Fellow in the inaugural class of the Florida Bar Leadership Academy, a statewide program designed to cultivate a diverse network of emerging leaders committed to strengthening the justice system.
Beyond his legal work, Jay is deeply committed to community service and leadership. He serves on the Board of Directors for Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity and previously served as Board President from 2014 to 2016. He is also a Board Member of Sarasota Suncoast Academy and was selected as the President of the inaugural class of Leadership North Port in 2016. In addition to his community leadership roles, Jay enjoys serving at his church and coaching his daughters’ teams in the North Port Youth Soccer League.

Jay is admitted to practice in the State of Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and the U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. These admissions allow him to represent clients in both state and federal courts, bringing a broad range of advocacy experience to complex injury and negligence cases.
He graduated with honors from the Florida State University College of Law in 2002, where he developed a foundation in trial practice and legal analysis. Prior to law school, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, also with honors, from Florida State University in 1997. This strong academic background continues to inform his approach to legal strategy, case preparation, and client representation.
